City Council Position #4 - Ashley Wheeler

Councilor Wheeler

HISTORY: I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. After High School I moved to Bellingham, Washington to attend Bellingham Technical College for Accounting & Business education. When I moved "home" (where my family resided), home had moved to Hermiston, Oregon. Even though the scenery looked much different than growing up in the Portland Metro area, I quickly fell in love with the community and the people. I began instructing Zumba classes with local gyms and networking at larger events within the community. I spent my free time partnering with Ford Institute to complete a beautification project in Umatilla County, mentoring teens at Campus Life, volunteering with Agape House and donating time and gifts during the holidays to events in Umatilla and Hermiston. A few years ago I had the pleasure of working at a local Chamber of Commerce, where I learned the importance of strong working relationships between a Chamber of Commerce and a City in order to successfully bring a community's vision to fruition. Umatilla County as a whole, is experiencing rapid growth and I am all in for our community's vision for the future. I am excited to play an active role in helping make that happen.

I currently reside in the city of Umatilla with my husband Jeff, and 8 children (3 of which have graduated from Umatilla High School, and 2 having already moved out of our home). The remaining children are actively involved with sports and other after school programs. In our spare time we love to be outdoors, travel, and participate in leadership and business development conferences.
